Meet a Mining Man cuts out the groundwork by providing a link between single Australian males on FIFO (fly in, fly out) rosters and single Australian females for the purposes of dating and/or developing a relationship.
Meet a Mining Man understands that it can be difficult for males on FIFO rosters to meet females due to their lifestyles, combined with limited time back home and, of course, a general lacking social scene. Our research also shows that females today want to retain a degree of independence in their relationships thus the FIFO lifestyle can have a certain appeal. So it’s win-win for both parties.
Who is a 'Mining Man'?
A Mining Man is any bona fide single male 18+ who works on a FIFO roster within the mining or resources sectors within Australia. This not only includes mine sites, but also rigs etc. And it is ANY male in the industry - from engineers to drillers to plant technicians to drivers.
And the females?
Any bona fide single female 18+ in Australia who understands that these Mining Men are on FIFO rosters.
Is Meet a Mining Man targeted at a specific age group?
No. Everyone over 18 years of age is welcome to become a member.
How does it work Australia-wide?
During the registration phase you will enter your residing State. Once you have signed up you can use the Search function, and if you are seeking someone within your own state, select the appropriate State in the drop-down search box to ensure the results displaying are people within your state.
There are FIFO males within each State flying in and out of major cities to their place of mining work- particularly in the States of WA, NT and QLD. However, males are also flying across States. For example, males in Victoria are being flown to WA mine sites- and then home again to Victoria during their time off. Unless these males move states permanently, they will usually fly back to their capital city/home town on their week/s off.
Women looking for FIFO men based in their own States should ensure they use the search function to search for men from their home State- if thats what they are looking for. If you are a FIFO male flying back and forth, for example, from NT to WA for work please ensure your home address is NT so that women in the NT can find you. However, singles can connect with people from any State! If you want a man or a women from a State other than your home State, this is more than possible!
The website is called Meet a Mining Man, does that mean its free for males?
No. Both males and females sign up and create a profile- and both are subject to the same membership fees.
I can search the site already, why Sign Up?
Whilst non-members can navigate through the Meet a Mining Man site and conduct searches, they cannot send messages to any members nor can they participate in the Forum discussions/postings. When non-members conduct a search, the results will display only limited profile information- so none of the juicy stuff. Those who become members can view other members’ full profiles, send messages and participate in the Forum. Members are also first informed of any social events held by Meet a Mining Man in Perth.
How does membership work?
Click here to view the Meet a Mining Man membership packages. As you will find, it is more economical to buy 6 or 12 month packages, plus there’s no hassle of renewing all the time. Credit cards are the accepted form of payment and the site is secure for making such payments. A few days before the expiry of your membership an automated email reminder will be sent to you. Once you are signed up you can log in with full accessibility to the site
What happens after I sign up?
After you sign up your membership will be activated immediately. You can log in straight away and start messaging members. It is VERY IMPORTANT that you enter your email address in correctly during the registration process as notification of messages in your Meet a Mining Man inbox will be sent to your email address. This lets you know if a member has sent you a message. Now and then the Meet a Mining Man admin team will also send out an information or events email.
When will members respond to messages I send them?
It is important to remember if you are a female messaging a mining man, it may take them a while to respond to messages due to their FIFO careers. Patience comes part and parcel when one partner is a shift worker. Members may respond in any length of time- there are no rules.
I have signed up but I want to change my profile information/photo?
It is easy to alter any information in your profile.
1. Log in
2. Go to "My Account". You will see a number of 'sections' which contain all the information you can edit.
3. Make any changes and save
4. To specifically change your profile photo you will need to go into 'edit section 2' and upload a new photo over the top of the existing one.
What is The Forum?
The Forum is a discussion board where members can make postings. Generally it will be directed by a weekly question. These questions could be on FIFO lifestyles, relationships, social situations etc. They can be fun, serious, socially awkward, or just general information exchange. Members can ask questions to other members. The Forum board is not to be used for advertising purposes- other than advertising your fine selves, of course. Note that The Forum will be monitored for inappropriate activity.
